primary causality

In my gift-ontology, primary causality names God’s causal role as the giver of being, the source of natures and powers, and the sustaining cause of creaturely existence and operation. Primary causality is not one cause among others. It is the cause of the entire created order’s being and causal capacity. This is why divine action is compatible with real secondary causes. Primary causality also aligns with act-of-gift language: primary causality is the giver-side act instituting gift-terms. It is the metaphysical ground of “God gives without becoming.”
