non-competitive causality

In my gift-ontology, non-competitive causality means God’s causality does not compete with creaturely causality because it is not in the same order. God gives being and causal power. Creatures act as real secondary causes within the created order. This blocks a false choice between occasionalism and deism. It also prevents imagining God as one agent inside the causal field. God is the source of the field itself. Non-competitive causality is closely tied to term-side novelty: creaturely histories and responses are real and meaningful within their order, but they do not become internal conditions that update God.
