Action (operation)

An acting that is truly causal, not merely a change in our descriptions. In creatures, actions are receiver-side operations that proceed from powers and can be accidental features of the agent. In God, “action” names the one simple act-of-gift identical with God, freely terminating in created effects, without any new intrinsic state arising in God. This term exists to block both errors at once: God does not acquire states, and God is not merely renamed after creaturely events. God’s action is not temporal process in God, but it is real efficacy in producing instituted terms.
